About Duskroll
Duskroll is a snowball roll game: push a snowball off the top of a mountain at dusk and steer every snowball run down with one thumb. Slide your thumb left or right to lean the ball across the slope. That is the whole control. In your first minute you roll up pinecones and sticks, the ball swells, and soon it is big enough to swallow fence posts, sleds and the hare that did not move in time. Roll what is left into the village at the bottom, and the snow you bring builds the village.
It is a relaxing snowball game with a real edge. Everything smaller than your ball sticks to it. Anything a little bigger knocks a chunk of snow off. Anything much bigger is a wall. The only brake is to lean across the slope, and that costs the speed you will want later, so every run is a little puzzle of when to cut across and when to let it fly downhill.
What you do
- Steer a growing snowball down a winter mountain with one thumb
- Roll up pinecones, drifts, fences, sleds, snowmen, hares and deer
- Watch the ball swell from a fist of snow to a rolling hill that weighs tons
- Outrun the avalanche when the mountain lets go behind you
- Chase the white hare, and dodge the trees too big to swallow
- Bring the ball home: whatever reaches the village is snow to build with
Build your village
- Start with an empty square at the foot of the mountain
- Build a well, a snowman to hang charms on, a trading post and a skating rink
- Raise a bell tower that lights up at night
- Build cottages, and families move in and write to you with favors to ask
- Put up decorations: lanterns, bunting, ice sculptures, a snowman crowd at the gate, fireworks and the aurora over the night mountain
- Choose a trail for your ball: embers, gold dust, frost glitter, hare tracks and more
Three mountains
- Pinewood, a forest run in the low evening sun
- The Night Face, under the stars and the aurora
- The Glacier, fast blue ice where one bad knock costs you the gold
Each mountain has gold, silver and bronze times to beat, and a Frost dial that makes the run harder and pays more snow, as far as you dare to push it.
Roll as something else
Not only a snowball. Roll as a beach ball, a curling stone, a ball of wool, a heavy cannonball, or Bramble the hedgehog, who curls up and charges. Each one handles differently, and each has its own upgrades at the igloo.
Always something to get to
- Every pinecone, drift and stick you roll up feeds a stat that keeps leveling: Agility, Size, Packing, Luck and Nerve
- Stats open knacks like Light feet, for steering in the air off a ramp
- Charms worn on the snowman change how a run plays
- Every day has its own descent, and its first finish pays double
- A board of the last two weeks shows what each mountain gave you
Made for one hand
A snowball run takes about a minute, so it fits a coffee break, a bus stop or the last few minutes before bed. Calm to look at, quick to pick up, and hard to put down once you are chasing a gold time.
Fair to play
No account to make and no energy timer. Play as many runs as you like. An ad plays between some runs, and one purchase, Remove ads, turns them off for good.
If you like a snowball game where you roll a snow ball and watch it grow, a downhill run, or a cozy village builder, give Duskroll a roll. Push the ball, lean, and see how big your snowball roll gets before it reaches home.
